Naked people lying around the club when we first walked in were now dressed. Eric kept a grip on my hand as we weaved through the crowd toward a large chair. It reminded me of the one my father had in his office.

Eric took his place in the chair and I glanced around for a place to sit, but he made the choice for me and pulled me into his lap. The crowd hushed, and all eyes were on us. “Um…did I do something wrong?”

He leaned in and whispered so lightly I could barely hear. If I hadn’t developed my powers, I’m sure I wouldn’t have heard a single word. “I just claimed you as mine.” When my brow furrowed in confusion, he tapped my head. “I told them this is their new Luna.”

A few of the women glared at me in the back of the room.

Eric’s arm wrapped around my waist. His eyes traveled the room like nothing was wrong, but his muscles were ridged under my touch. A server walked up with a champagne glass full of blood and another drink she handed me. “Oh, I didn’t order this.”

The server smiled. “I know. I’m good at guessing what people would like. It’s a sweet raspberry vodka drink.” I grabbed it out of her hand and stared at it. I’d never had alcohol before.

“I’m not drinking tonight.” Eric hadn’t even paid the bartender a second look and I felt bad for her for a moment. She was trying to make her Alpha happy.

“What is your name?”

“Gilley. If you don’t like it, I can bring you something else.”

I pressed the glass to my lips and sipped. A blast of raspberry and lemon hit my tongue. “This is good.” I downed the drink in two gulps.

She smiled. “I’ll grab you another.”

Eric’s head swung, and he looked from the drink to Gilley. “She only gets one more.”

The woman looked like she wanted to protest but turned around and left. “I can decide how much I drink.” My brain fogged over, and I felt strange.

The damn sexy vampire’s lips turned up. “I figured you haven’t drunk much before or even drank at all. The alcohol is spelled here to help supernaturals get drunk. Your eyes are already glossed over. Sip the next drink. We need to stay alert.”

He hadn’t told me why the bouncer needed him in the club. Said I didn’t need to worry about it, but it was clear by the tension in Eric’s body he was stressed. Max left to go home to take care of Missy. Music played thought the speakers drowning out the conversation around us. My stomach growled, reminding me I hadn’t eaten in a while. Eric might not need to eat like me, but I sure as hell was hungry.

“Is a burger okay?” Eric asked, not taking his eyes off the front door.

“Sure.” The waitress behind the bar gave us a thumbs up and all I could imagine is Eric told her through the link in his brain.
